Last Summer – Ojo
Canadian based singer/rapper Ojo puts out a six-track EP and it’s the perfect timing. Seeing how diverse the music culture is becoming worldwide, it’s not strange to find a lot of acts jumping on board the new wave. A lot start of as experimental and find their way into a more comfortable blend/fusion of creativity that they can call their sound. Although, not many are fortunate enough to discover this early enough.
Ojo‘s style can be described as a psychedelic merging of a soulful RnB with Hip-Hop. It’s almost like there is a battle between both halves of his style, but the singer is undoubtedly capable of making appealing melodies with each line, and should work on this more; that autotune can be tricky.
Last Summer happens to be Ojo‘s first project, and it expresses the emotional cycle of a summer. The ups and downs of enjoying company, to resenting company, to missing company. Inspired by Summer ’16.
“Summer is a cycle. Last Summer is every summer” – Ojo
