Not much is acknowledged when talking about the independent and peculiar acts that reside amongst us, and this is the problem. But rather than sit still and do nothing, we see breaks in the fictitious barrier each day. From the soul singers to the hip-hop acts, to the alternative and independent acts.
Which brings us to The Isomers. The Isomers are an Abuja based Alternative rock band formed in 2012. An Isomer is a compound with the same chemical formula but different molecular structure; a befitting name for the explosive combination of Rock/Alternative (Oluwaseun Daniel – Lead vocalist & guitarist), Blues (Motietru – Songwriter & guitarist.), Folk/Indie (Isaac Isumanu – Vocalist & guitarist) and Soul/Hiphop/RnB (Monlee – Vocalist & producer).
The Isomers released their self titled Ep in mid 2015 to critical reviews. Their melodic, eclectic and guitar centric sound combined with poetic lyrics have placed them among the top alternative bands in Africa. The 6-track piece has now been revisited where the track Oya was first released.
With a visual appeal, that features a relatively abstract scenery, it is a noteworthy representation of their discovery.
