TenTen – Headbridge
Been meaning to write a piece on these guys for days now, and the delay has come due to a lack of good headphones. Believe it or not.
With a release of their first project titled At The Moment, a touch on the relationship topic was placed on this track. We hear the acts rap in and out of verses over a smooth RnB chorus and instrumental that indicates what can be pictured as an unhealthy relationship long overdue.
Much popular in the 90’s, ‘ten-ten’ was a two-person hand clap and foot stamp game played by kids; the girls mostly, with not much activities to occupy their time with. The game became sensational as it travelled around schools back then. Everyone was eager to get on board the ‘ten-ten’ wagon. We are yet to find the true origin story. The game can be played by the two persons standing on, and switching an opposite leg from the other while clapping and chanting the chorus that came with playing the game.
In this TenTen however, we can hear the singer clearly stating that their relationship is not a game, and a realisation has been met. After being treated unfairly, it is time to pack up and leave. Also, there are hints of doubt; regarding the fluctuating feelings that accompanied the relationship, and deciding whether or not they were true. References to coming back from the fallout. Hoping to re-ignite dying flames and make things work for the better.
Enjoy and share!
